This is my auto-biographical game. In it, you play as me, Rilee Horowitz (or a poorly rendered version of the man) as he relives his days climbing trees and leaping across rocks in the lake just as he did it....DEFYING GRAVITY AND RUNNING ON WALLS!!!
I chose this topic because I felt that climbing trees and running out onto the rocks on the lake, really any sort of exploration out in nature, is near and dear to me and my childhood and reflects a very important part of myself.
The process of making the game was really figuring out how to make the jumping, moving, and wall running feel as good as possible. It's still a bit janky here and there, but overall, I think I did a really good job, what with the trigonometry and the raycasting and all. The most fun thing to do was figure out how exactly to tackle this challenge and then actually accomplish what I set out to do. It was extremely satisfying. I have a hard time deciding on a least favorite part of the project, I really enjoyed making it. If I had to choose, it was maybe the audio and getting that to work in 3D space, but only because I don't fully understand it yet. Also getting the lighting right. I had to scrap my original idea of making the game at night with a starry sky because I couldn't get my spotlights working for some reason. But a sunset is just as good!
